The horned lizard, wrongly called the horned toad, is a species of lizard close to the iguana. This animal with a flattened body and covered with thorns lives mainly in the stony deserts of North America. Fast and agile, it hides in the sand in case of danger and is also capable of projecting blood streams to ward off certain canine predators.
